If you were a kid in Canada, you rode the bus. You rode the bus for hockey. You rode the bus for band. You rode the bus for theatre. You rode the bus for soccer, rubgy, track, debate, field trips... You just, ride the bus.
Today we’re wearing jerseys and standing hockey sticks on the front porch, not just for the Humboldt Broncos, but for all the kids who rode and still ride the bus.
My son runs track and field, plays rugby, and freestyle skis. He rides the bus. . My daughter lives 1000 km away from home for school. She rides a van or a bus every day. I cannot begin to imagine - nor do I want to - the nightmare these parents are living.
The tragedy in Humboldt is shared experience for Canada, and for parents and bus-riders everywhere.

I’ll bring my hockey stick in eventually... but every day I think about it again and then walk past it on my way in the house, thinking of those now 16 people that will never hit the ice again and will never walk in their door, happy to be home, again.

We have three at the door. I can’t bring myself to take them inside.
